To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if the continuation will be assured of the Carlisle and Blake award to teachers in primary schools and or to student teachers on an annual basis; the number of awards and institutions to which the award is made; and the name of all winners of the award from 1964 to date. In total four Carlisle and Blake Awards are awarded annually by my Department. They are issued to the primary Bachelor of Education graduate who achieves the highest overall mark in Education (theory and practice) and Practical teaching in each of the four State-funded primary Higher Education Institutions namely, DCU Institute of Education, Marino Institute of Education, Maynooth University, (Froebel Department of Primary and Early Childhood Education) and Mary Immaculate College.

I understand that the award will continue for such time as funds are available, which are being managed by the Charities Regulator.

I wish to advise the Deputy that as my Department does not hold or publish a centralised register of recipients of this award, the information requested is not readily available.
