235. To ask the Minister for Health if a person being refused a blood test at the Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar is reflective of a new wider practice in which hospitals are no longer accepting patients referred by their general practitioner for blood tests, given that this service is not covered by the medical card and the additional fee payable to the general practitioner can represent in excess of 25% of a person’s weekly income under the 25 jobseeker’s allowance rate and a significant barrier to proper medical care.
