627. To ask the Minister for Health the reason those under 16 years of age are not eligible for Covid-19 testing; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23135/21]

Any person, including those under 16 years of age, can avail of a free COVID-19 (coronavirus) test if they have symptoms of COVID-19, and their GP advise that they require a test following an assessment. Their GP will then arrange the test for them and they will be notified of the time and location via text message.

628. To ask the Minister for Health if he will address the issue of those who do not have identification due to the passport backlog and wish to avail of Covid-19 testing; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23136/21]

As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
