I as Minister for Transport do not have responsibility for the operational matters of An Garda Síochána. Section 26 of The Garda Síochána Act 2005specifies that the Garda Commissioner is responsible for the management and control of the administration and business of An Garda Síochána, including arranging the recruitment, training and appointment of its members and civilian staff.
