To ask the Minister for Health the steps being taken to improve the prevention and treatment of diabetes, in particular for the lower income area; if his Department has carried out studies in relation to the link between socioeconomic background and the prevalence of diabetes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. With regard to the steps being taken to improve the prevention and treatment of diabetes, I have asked the the Health Service Executive to examine this matter and respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
