587. To ask the Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht the details of the applications received for sports capital grants; and the value of the grants applied for by clubs in the Dublin city and Fingal areas. [15828/21]

The Sports Capital and Equipment Programme is the primary vehicle for Government support for the development of sports and physical recreation facilities and the purchase of non-personal sports equipment throughout the country.

The 2020 round of the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme closed for applications on Monday 1stMarch. By the closing date, 3,106 applications were submitted seeking over €200m in funding. This is the highest number of applications ever received. Under the Department’s Online Sports Capital Register (OSCAR), details are only broken down on a county basis and, in regard to Dublin, 458 applications were submitted seeking approx. €30m in funding.
