148. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the reason National Driver Licence Service appointment holders are not being advised beforehand when their appointments are being cancelled; the reason some persons have had to wait up to nine months for their licences to be issued; and the reason medical certificates are being requested when previously they were not (details supplied). All enquires relating to driver licensing are handled by the National Driver Licence Service (NDLS), provided by the Road Safety Authority (RSA). My Department does not have access to individual applications and cannot comment on individual cases.

I have referred the question to the Road Safety Authority for direct reply. I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response is not received within 10 days.
