140. To ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade his views on and response to the decision by the International Criminal Court in the Hague which confirmed that it has jurisdiction over the occupied Palestine; the actions he has taken on foot of this decision; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am aware of the Pre-Trial Chamber’s ruling on 5 February in relation to the scope of territorial jurisdiction in the occupied Palestinian territory. Ireland is a strong supporter of the International Criminal Court and is committed to preserving the independence and impartiality of the Court’s judicial process. The Court remains seized of the situation and we do not comment on ongoing legal processes.
