EU Regulation 2017/821 lays down supply chain due diligence obligations for Union importers of tin, tantalum and tungsten, their ores, and gold originating from conflict-affected and high-risk areas.

Statutory Instrument No. 16 of 2021 (available at) designates the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications as Competent Authority for the purpose of EU Regulation 2017/821. There are currently 13 companies which will fall under the remit of the EU Regulation, the implementation of which is being overseen by my Department.
