349. To ask the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence if his Department will engage with Kildare County Council with a view to resolving the investigation into the dumping of material in the vicinity of Donnelly’s Hollow on the Curragh in order to prevent unnecessary wasting of funds should Kildare County Council progress the matter through the courts; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I can confirm to the Deputy that, since this matter came to light, my officials have consistently engaged with the County Council with a view to resolving this matter. The Deputy can be assured that my officials will continue to engage with the local authority on same. I am advised that Kildare County Council has acknowledged that the environmental assessment conducted by my Department confirms there is no evidence that any environmental damage has been caused at the site in question.
