To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the groups of public sector workers to which the updated social media policy which includes the instruction not to comment on or like social media posts which would undermine the Minister, the Department, the Government or Government policy has been sent to; and the groups of public sector workers to which it applies. As Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, part of my responsibilities are the non pay terms and conditions of Civil Servants. There is no central social media policy for the Civil Service and individual Departments develop social media policies according to their own use of social media and their own range of accounts and channels.

However, the Civil Service Code of Standards and Behaviour applies to all civil servants. You can access the Civil Service Code of Standards in the link below.

The code sets out that Civil Servants must maintain the highest standards of impartiality.
