227. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government if a report will be provided on the Traveller accommodation budget spend by each local authority in 2020, by new accommodation, refurbishment of existing accommodation and site improvements to meet Covid-19 public health advice; and if any of the funding was spent on mainstream or general needs housing for Travellers. In accordance with the Housing (Traveller Accommodation) Act 1998, housing authorities have statutory responsibility for the assessment of the accommodation needs of Travellers and the preparation, adoption and implementation of multiannual Traveller Accommodation Programmes in their areas. My Department’s role is to ensure that there are adequate structures and supports in place to assist the authorities in providing such accommodation, including a national framework of policy, legislation and funding.

My Department is currently finalising the collation of data for 2020 and it will be made available in due course.
