831. To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the engagement he has had with the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment with regard to undertaking a review of the potential demand in international markets for wool-based products; the analysis his Department has carried out into the potential employment opportunities in the wool industry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I was delighted to be in a postion to announce the allocation of €100,000 for the review of the potential demand in international markets for wool-based products such as insulation and fertilisers andwhich hopefully will develop a roadmap for the irish wool industry.
I have not engaged with the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment as yet on the subject as the establishment of the procedures involved are at a very early stage. My officials are currently looking at the options for the format and administration of this review.
