Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport
48. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport his plans to ensure public transport bus links are maintained between Dublin and Belfast in view of Bus Éireann’s decision to suspend the Dublin to Belfast bus route; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [37191/20]
49. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the estimated number of passengers that used bus transport links between Dublin and Belfast in 2019; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [37192/20]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 48 and 49 together.
As the Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport. However, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport.
The questions raised are a matter for the National Transport Authority (NTA), in conjunction with bus operators, and I have forwarded the Deputy's questions to the NTA for direct reply.
Please advise my private office if you do not receive a response within ten working days.
