41. To ask the Minister for Trade, Enterprise and Employment if his attention has been drawn to the fact that some employers are basing the new wage subsidy scheme off workers contracted hours rather than hours worked or 2019 weekly earnings and that this is affecting many workers whose contracts do not reflect their normal working practices. The Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme (EWSS), which is administered by the Revenue Commissioners, was introduced under the Financial Provisions (Covid-19) (No. 2) Act 2020. I would encourage the Deputy to raise this issue with my colleague, the Minister for Finance, who has the EWSS under his remit.
