625. To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality the number of staff in her Department on sick leave between March and September by month in 2019 and to date 2020; the pay arrangements that exist for staff on sick leave for an extended period of time; the number of sick days accounted for by her Department over the period; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The following table sets out the number of staff on sick leave, the number of sick leave instances and number of sick leave days by month from March to September 2019 and January to September 2020.

In respect of the pay arrangements in place, in general the Sick Pay scheme provides the following:

- Full pay for the first 92 days of certified sick leave based on full pay in a 1 year period

- Followed by half pay for the addition certified sick leave for next 91 days subject to a maximum of 183 days in a rolling 4 year period.
