141. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the eligibility of those on maternity leave and in receipt of a maternity benefit payment to end maternity leave early to enable them to submit an application for the pandemic unemployment payment ahead of the upcoming application deadline of 17 September 2020; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Government has decided to extend the application date for the Pandemic Unemployment Payment to the end of the year.  The payment was due to close to new applications on the 17thSeptember 2020 but it has been decided to extend this period at this time.

I trust that this clarifies the position for the Deputy
