27. To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality if her attention has been drawn to the fact that Prison Links workers are not on the approved contact lists resulting in prisoners having to choose between a visit, a call from a family member and a professional visit that could help with reoffending. I can advise the Deputy that the Community Prison Link Service is a non-prison based service that works with people with addiction issues both in prison and in the community.

The Irish Prison Service are aware of the very valuable service provided by the Community Prison Link Service and appreciates that they are anxious to resume direct contact with prisoners.

My officials in the Irish Prison Service will arrange a meeting in the coming weeks to discuss how the service can be supported in maintaining contact with its clients while in custody.
