871. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection if consideration will be given to extending paid parental leave for one parent families which would result in them having the same level of support as two parent families; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Department of Justice and Equality has policy and legal responsibility for parents leave and my Department has responsibility for the payment of the associated parent's benefit. Any proposal to extend the duration of parent's leave for one parent families would be a matter flor consideration by my colleague, the Minister for Justice and Equality.
I trust this clarifies the matter.
