To ask the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the case of a retained firefighter (details supplied) that works as a civil servant for a State agency and has been informed that they are no longer allowed to leave work to carry out their duties as a retained firefighter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am advised by Revenue that the person concerned is employed as a Clerical Officer with Revenue in Dundalk, in full-time capacity, Monday to Friday. The retained firefighter role requires availability on call, six days out of eight and is not therefore compatible with a fulltime post in Revenue.
