To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government his views on the proposal by South Dublin County Council to spend an estimated €22 million on the development of a visitors centre and walkways at the Hellfire Club, Rathfarnham (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. The elected members of local authorities are responsible for budgetary matters and the adoption of the annual budget is a reserved function. In this context, it is a matter for each local authority to determine spending priorities, having regard to available resources.
The use of funds in the manner outlined by the Deputy is, therefore, a matter for the local authority concerned.
