To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the extent to which a review has taken place regarding the decision not to award a Covid-19 related payment in the case of a person (details supplied) in view of the fact the person's absences from work arise directly from the Covid-19 crisis; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Covid-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP) was introduced by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. To be eligible for the Covid-19 PUP a person must have been in employment or self-employment on or after 6/3/2020 and must have lost their employment or self-employment due to a downturn in economic activity related to Covid-19. 

The records of my Department reflect that the person concerned is currently in receipt of an Illness Benefit payment since 13/4/2020.  This payment has been certified up to 18/5/2020.

On cessation of his Illness Benefit payment and subject to the eligibility criteria for Covid-19 PUP, it is open to the person concerned to submit a Covid-19 PUP application online at www.mywelfare.ie if he feels he satisfies the eligibility criteria for payment of this income support.
