To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the amount expended on access to online and hard copy media publications in each of the years 2017 to 2019 and to date in 2020; the breakdown of online and hard copy subscriptions including the publications that her Department subscribes to; if consideration has been given to using a banded set of IP addresses for online subscriptions rather than individual accounts; and if she will make a statement on the matter. My Department puts a strong emphasis on evidence-based policy. Therefore, it is important that my officials keep up to date with international best practice by reading relevant research. Considerable effort has been made by the Librarian employed by my Department to move many of these subscriptions online. The following tables provide details of my Department’s expenditure on the purchase of newspapers, online subscriptions, magazines and other journal and digital subscriptions for the years in question:
