I am advised by Revenue that the overall cost associated with tax relief on health insurance for the years 2004 to 2017 is published in the Costs of Tax Expenditures table on Revenue’s website at: The relevant row is ‘Medical Insurance Relief’ and 2017 is the latest year for which data are available. The table shows that in 2017 the cost of Medical Insurance Relief was €350 million in respect of 1,271,400 claimants.
