As Minister for Finance I am responsible for the development of the legal framework governing financial regulation.  As such, it would be inappropriate for me to comment on or intervene in an individual case such as that referred to in the details supplied by the Deputy.

I would note however that a consumer can make a complaint to the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman (FSPO) in relation to any dealings with a financial services or insurance provider during which they feel they have been unfairly treated.  The FSPO can be contacted via email () or phone (01 567 7000) after the complaints handling process with a financial services or insurance provider has been exhausted.
