137. To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality if he will provide the last date on which he and-or his officials were briefed with an update by the DPP and-or An Garda Síochána in respect of the final report of the Moriarty tribunal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I would refer the Deputy to my previous response to questions on this matter, most recently Question 250 on 4 July 2018. The Deputy will appreciate that criminal investigations and other operational matters are, in accordance with the Garda Síochána Act 2005, solely a matter for the Garda Commissioner. Likewise it is a matter for the DPP to decide, independently in the exercise of her functions, if any charges should be brought and I have no role in these matters.
