485. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if an emergency review of ways to alleviate congestion on the N11 will be commissioned in view of the ongoing worsening congestion on the N11 during peak-traffic periods, the hardship endured by commuters stuck in traffic jams and the hours lost to businesses in terms of employees delayed by traffic on the road; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 485 and 487 together.

As Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport, I have responsibility for overall policy and funding in relation to the national roads programme.  Under the Roads Acts 1993-2015, the operation, maintenance and construction of individual national roads is a matter for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), in conjunction with the local authorities concerned.

Noting the above position, I have referred the question to TII for a direct reply.  Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.
