577. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if road safety statistics are available for the section of road on the N25 from Seieverue to Glenmore, County Kilkenny; if Transport Infrastructure Ireland has plans to improve the safety along this section of road; if funding has been allocated for the work; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport, I have responsibility for overall policy and funding in relation to the national roads programme.  Once funding arrangements have been put in place with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), under the Roads Acts 1993-2015, the operation and maintenance of individual national roads is a matter for TII,  in conjunction with the local authorities concerned.

Noting the above position, I have referred the question to TII for a more detailed and direct reply.  Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.
