391. To ask the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment if he has been in contact with a company (details supplied) regarding admissions by the company that it has developed algorithms designed to surface authorities content; and if he will reduce the power of the company by breaking up this monopoly along with others in order to allow for pluralist information sources that permit for competing ideas to exist. The Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment has no function in this regard. Enforcement of Competition Law in the European Union is a matter for the European Commission in the first instance.

At national level, where there is a suggestion that an entity is abusing a dominant position, the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has responsibility for enforcement.
