To ask the Minister for Health the revenue raised between 1 January and 31 December 2018 from charges for private patients in public beds in public and voluntary hospitals; the details for 2015, 2016, and 2017; the number of procedures from 1 January to 31 December 2018 in each public and voluntary hospital which treated private patients in public beds; the equivalent figures for 2015, 2016 and 2017; the number of applications for payment by the insurer submitted by each hospital for such procedures carried out between 1 January and 31 December 2018; and the equivalent figures for 2015, 2016 and 2017. Under the Health (Amendment) Act 2013, patients who opt for private treatment in a public hospital are charged according to the service provided, whether that be treatment on a day basis or overnight and whether the stay is in a single or multiple occupancy room.
