145. To ask the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence further to Parliamentary Question No. 46 of 20 June 2019, if the State does not cover the treatment costs of ex-servicemen and women suffering from post traumatic stress disorder; if ex-servicemen and women suffering with the condition are granted medical cards; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As outlined in my previous reply to PQ 25904/19, to which the Deputy refers, former members of the Permanent Defence Forces have access to the range of supports available to all citizens of the State. Medical cards are granted by the Health Service Executive based on an individual's personal and family circumstances and are not a matter within the remit of my Department.
