662. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the reason a person (details supplied) is in receipt of €270 rent supplement in view of the fact that the appropriate level of rent support for a person paying €500 per month in rent that is in receipt of an invalidity pension only is €361 per month; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I am advised that the Rent Supplement claim is in payment based on the application and documentation submitted by the person concerned.

My Department has not been made aware of any change in circumstances. If there has been a change of circumstance, the person concerned should contact my Department to seek a review of their Rent Supplement payment.

I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
