Live Register Data
The Live Register is compiled from returns made for each local office to the Central Statistics Office by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP).
It comprises of persons under 65 years of age in the following classes:
All claimants for Jobseekers’ Benefit (JB) excluding systematic short-time workers;
Applicants for Jobseekers’ Allowance excluding smallholders/farm assists and other self-employed persons;
Other registrants including applicants for credited Social Welfare contributions but excluding those directly involved in an industrial dispute.
In January 2019 there were 4,964 persons on the Live Register for County Westmeath.
The most recent Live Register figures available for County Westmeath are for May 2019, when there were 4,747 persons on the Live Register.
This resulted in a decrease in the Live Register figures for County Westmeath of 217 persons (-4.4%) between January and May 2019.
At State level in January 2019 there were 199,627 persons on the Live Register, while in May 2019 this had decreased by 9,760 (-4.9%) to 189,867.
