To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the position regarding the next phases of the N56 in County Donegal; if contractors have been appointed for the next sections of this national secondary road; if additional plans are being prepared for other sections of the N56 in addition to those parts being tendered at present; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport, I have responsibility for overall policy and funding in relation to the national roads programme. Under the Roads Acts 1993-2015, the planning, design and construction of individual national roads is a matter for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), in conjunction with the local authorities concerned.
