To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection if a person (details supplied) is due arrears concerning a working family payment following a social welfare appeal that was allowed on 25 January 2019 on the grounds that their employment took place under a contract of service and is insurable at class A; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Working Family Payment (WFP) is an in-work payment which provides additional financial support to employees on low earnings with children. In order to qualify for WFP an applicant or the applicant and their spouse, partner or cohabitant must be engaged in full-time remunerative employment as an employee. In addition a family's average weekly income must not exceed a fixed limit. This income limit varies in accordance with family size.

An application was received from the person concerned on 28 September 2017.

Their application was referred for further clarification of their employment status and following a successful appeal decision, it has been established that the person concerned does satisfy the above employment condition.

However, their WFP application has been disallowed as their weekly family income exceeds the fixed limit for their family size (4 qualified children).

The person concerned was notified of this decision on 02 May 2019 and of their right of review and appeal.
