To ask the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence the number of external organisations or membership-based organisations his Department is a member of; the year in which his Department joined the organisation; the amount paid in membership in each of the past five years; the level of interaction between his Department and the organisation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department is a member of three external organisations. Details of the three organisations and the amount paid to each in membership fees in the period 2015 to 2019 are set out in the table below.

As a member organisation of the Governance Forum since 2016, my Department avails of the range of services provided by the Forum, including attendance at briefing events and conferences, customised in-house training and consultancy, advice from governance specialists and access to the Governance Forum web site. |

Its aim is to provide a forum for those with an interest in strategic planning in Irish Foreign and EU policy, and to evaluate and disseminate strategic policy options in these areas. As a corporate member of the Institute, staff of my Department attend many of the briefing events and conferences which it organises over the course of any year. |
