To ask the Minister for Health the reason contracts for the provision of modular theatres at Merlin Park Hospital, Galway could not be executed; when it was established that the contracts could not be executed; when this tender process was begun; the costs incurred from the initiation of the tender process to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. To ask the Minister for Health the engagement he has had with the Saolta University Health Care Group and the HSE in relation to the ongoing failure to provide operating theatres at Merlin Park Hospital, Galway since the closure in September 2017 of two operating theatres; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Officials from my Department have ongoing engagement with Saolta University Health Care Group and the HSE in relation to a range of issues including the tender process for the provision of 2 modular theatres for Orthopaedics on the Merlin Park University Hospital site.
Saolta University Health Care Group advise that they are working towards restoring the full elective orthopaedic service as quickly as possible.
