To ask the Minister for Education and Skills further to Parliamentary Question No. 210 of 26 February 2019, the reason a new invitation to pre-qualify has not commenced for a new school (details supplied) in County Kildare; the revised timescale for the delivery of the project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The major building project referred to by the Deputy is at an advanced stage of architectural planning, Stage 2(b) – Detailed Design which includes the application for Planning Permission, Fire Cert and Disability Access Cert and the preparation of tender documents. All statutory approvals have been secured.

As previously advised, one of the unsuccessful parties has challenged the outcome of the pre-qualification process.

Following consideration of legal advice the school has, in consultation with the Department, taken the decision to cancel the pre-qualification process and a new invitation to pre-qualify will issue shortly on the e-tenders platform.

Pre-qualification normally takes between 8 and 12 weeks to complete. When pre-qualification is complete the project will then be progressed to tender stage. A tender stage normally takes between 7 and 8 months to complete.
