In October 2017 the Government approved my proposals for a revision of existing data retention legislation to take account of evolving ECJ jurisprudence in this area.

Drafting of the Communications (Data Retention and Disclosure) Bill is well advanced and I would expect to be in a position to publish the Bill later this year.
