The Individual Health Identifier (IHI) is a key aspect of the eHealth strategy and has a legal basis in the Health Identifiers Act 2014. Under the Health Identifiers Act 2014 (Delegation of Relevant Functions) Order 2015, the HSE have responsibility for implementing the IHI which is a long term project intended to be phased into a number of national systems on a periodic basis over the coming years. As the implementation of the IHI is a matter for the HSE, I have asked the HSE to respond directly to the Deputy.
