Flood Risk Assessments

155. To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform further to Parliamentary Question No. 72 of 9 October 2018, if consultants have been hired to complete the reassessment of the local hydrology of the area and the operation of the local drainage network; the expected date for completion of the studies; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Hazelhatch area of Celbridge, County Kildare was assessed as part of the Eastern Catchment Flood Risk Assessment and Management Study. The Flood Risk Management Plans identified the need for a further study of the area to help identify any feasible option to manage the existing flood risk.

This further study, being commissioned by Kildare County Council, is carrying out a detailed technical/hydro geological assessment. The Council expects that the completed report will be available towards the end of Quarter 2, 2019 and will help inform the management of the flood risk in this area.
