To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government the number of advisers and special advisers employed by his Department in 2017 and 2018 and to date in 2019; the areas of expertise covered by such advisers; the annual salaries associated with same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have appointed two special advisers in my Department since my appointment as Minister, both of whom work across a wide range of areas within the remit of my Department including Housing, Planning, Local Government, Water Services and Electoral Reform as well as liaising with the media and other Government Departments and advisers.
The names and salary details of both advisers are set out in the following table.

Ms Carroll Mac Neill has recently taken up a new appointment outside my Department and the process of formally appointing a new adviser, who will also be appointed to the Principal Officer (Standard) PPC pay scale, is underway.
My predecessor in this Department also appointed two special advisers whose details are set out in the following table.
