My Department gathers quarterly data on staff numbers in local authorities. 

Staffing numbers for the local authority sector, as well as the broader public sector, are available on the Public Service Numbers databank which is hosted and maintained by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform and is available at the following link:  providing access to information from 1980 onwards.

The staffing levels for the end of Quarter 4, 2018 are currently being collated and will be published on the PER databank when finalised.
