570. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the action he has undertaken to contact the management of Aer Lingus in view of its consideration of outsourcing of the catering department and in further view of the public commitments given at the time of the sale of the remaining 25% shareholding in Aer Lingus that there would be no adverse impact on jobs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have no role in relation to employment matters or commercial decisions of private companies. My functions, as Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport on Aer Lingus, are now essentially the same as with any Irish airline.

The legally-binding commitments made by IAG in 2015 as part of its offer for the State's minority shareholding in Aer Lingus relate to Heathrow slots, the location of the headquarters and the Aer Lingus brand.
