499. To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if technical agricultural officers working in his Department have the opportunity to work until they are 70 years of age; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2812/19]

The Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Bill 2018, which was enacted on 26th of December 2018 increases the compulsory retirement age for civil servants, recruited prior to 1stApril 2004, from age 65 to age 70.
Technical Agricultural Officers employed by my Department, who meet the above criteria, are included in this cohort of staff and now have the opportunity to remain in employment until age 70.
