Statistics in relation to social housing stock are published by the National Oversight and Audit Commission (NOAC) in their annual reports on Performance Indicators in Local Authorities. These reports provide a range of information in relation to social housing stock, including the number of dwellings in the ownership of each local authority and percentages vacant. The most recent report, relating to 2017, is available on the NOAC website at the following link: Information on leased properties should be available from the individual local authorities.

While information on vacancies in social housing stock is contained in the NOAC reports, I should point out that the number of houses/apartments owned by local authorities that are vacant is not a fixed number and it varies at any given time. This is to be expected as tenancies end and properties are re-let on a continuous basis.
