255. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the reason a person (details supplied) has been refused a back to work enterprise allowance in view of the confirmation of the Revenue Commissioners to the effect that they were not self-employed in the past and have been in receipt of jobseeker's allowance for the past two years; if the case will be examined with a view to awarding payment; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The person concerned applied for back to work enterprise allowance (BTWEA) on 13thJuly 2018 and a decision on the application was sent to the person concerned on 23rdSeptember 2018. The application was not successful as the business was not a new enterprise.

I trust that this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
