I am aware of the proposed project referred to by the Deputy.

With regard to the possible provision of public funding for the proposal, the National Sports Policy was published on 25th July 2018 and provided for a Large Scale Sport Infrastructure Fund (LSSIF) with at least €100 million available over the coming years. The fund was launched in November and is open to applications until 17thApril 2019.The fund will initially focus on the requirements and development plans of National Governing Bodies of Sport and Local Authorities, all of which received letters inviting them to make applications.

Accordingly, it is open to the promoters of the proposed facility to apply for funding under the programme. Any application received will be assessed along with other applications in line with the aims of the programme.

Full details of the programme and application forms can be accessed on the Department's website at.
