The Department has engaged in a consultation process with the Irish Medical Organisation (IMO), a longstanding representative body with a broad range of GPs in its membership, over recent months. It is hoped that this process can be brought to a successful conclusion shortly and that agreement can be concluded on a range of issues including e-certification, closed certification and changes to the forms in use for medical certification. The Deputy can be assured that the Department will continue to support and engage with GPs during the period of transition and operation of any new system.

I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
