217. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection when an application for an illness benefit by a person (details supplied) will be processed as a matter of urgency as this person has submitted their sixth medical certificate and has not received payment; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Illness Benefit claim for the person concerned has been processed and arrears owing to him have been issued.

The claim is both certified and paid up to the 22nd November 2018.

If the person concerned remains ill and unfit for work, a further medical certificate should be submitted to the Department as soon as possible in order for further payments to issue.

I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
